District President

On a Mission to Support Christ’s Mission!

The mission statement of Iowa District West is On a Mission to Support Christ’s Mission!  He has chosen to carry out this mission through people.  Iowa District West is neither a building in Fort Dodge, Iowa nor a staff of people.  Iowa District West is made up of over 170 self-governing congregations.  These congregations carry out their ministries in the context of the communities where they are located.  The District is also made up of over 190 pastors and about 75 professional church workers.

A Mission statement specifies an organization’s purpose or “reason for being.”  The organization of congregations and church workers joined to together in a Synod is:

1. The example of the apostolic church (Acts 15:1-31).
2. Our Lord’s will that the diversities of gifts should be for the common profit (1 Cor. 12:4-31) (The Preamble of the Constitution of The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod).

The elected and called leaders of Iowa District West are here to support the congregations (members of congregations), pastors and professional church workers of the district.  Our work together is the same as the mission for The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod: In grateful response to God’s grace and empowered by the Holy Spirit through Word and Sacraments, the mission of The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod is vigorously to make known the love of Christ by word and deed within our churches, communities, and the world.
