LCEF is a financial organization that empowers ministry. Through the dollars invested by over 50,000 individuals, congregations, schools, organizations and businesses, LCEF assists ministries with customized loans and ministry support services that help leaders respond to growth and community needs. LCEF also offers loans to rostered church workers—those dedicated servants who are on the front lines of ministry.
One congregation in Iowa will win $1,000 while having the opportunity to start a conversation about stewardship and finance with the youth.
How the Y.I. Challenge Works
From Jan. 25 to Feb. 14, 2015, a 10-question-quiz with basic stewardship and finance questions will appear online at lcefuppermidwest.org/yichallenge. Congregation members and your school students of all ages take the quiz online. The higher your percentage of participation and correct answers, the better your chances of winning! Note, while you may take the Y.I. Challenge multiple times to improve your score, only one top score from each participant will count toward your church final GPA.
At the end of the quiz period, based upon quiz results, one congregation in Iowa will win $1,000 from your Iowa LCEF to use for your youth program!
Your church should register soon in order to receive communication materials. Registration is to be completed by at least one individual (a team leader) per church with a valid email address.
Six $1,000 LCEF upper Midwest districts Scholarships will be awarded this year. Your college choice can be anywhere, as long as it is accredited. Awards are not based upon the type of degree you are pursuing. Students must be a current LCMS member in Iowa District West.
A one page essay and two letters of recommendation are required. Graduating seniors and current college students should visit lcefuppermidwest.org/ scholarships for qualification details and application.
