LERT Disaster Response

You are invited to part of the exciting IOWAY outreach to hundreds of children and parents at Moulton Elementary. Of the nearly 500 students, majority are immigrants or refugees from other countries. There are currently 30 lanugages spoken at the school. Many of the students are in need of coats, boots, gloves, quilts, socks, etc. Details of exact sizes and how to drop off materials to Audri are in the attached file.

Thank you to all who have donated time, muscle and finances to help with the Iowa derecho!  As the Iowa District West Disaster Response Coordinator, I have been in contact with LCMS churches in IDW and IDE that were in the line of the storm on August 10. 

Currently, nine IDW LERT teams which included 82 volunteers have helped with the clean-up of downed trees at eleven different sites.  The Boone Circuit LERT trailer has been deployed for the past two months to supply needed items for the clean-up efforts in Iowa District East.

$15,000 has been generously donated to Iowa District West for helping with the relief efforts.  I have been working with Pastor Dean Rothchild, Disaster Response Coordinator for IDE and with seven LCMS pastors in IDE to identify families most affected by the storm.  The funds have been given to fifteen different families who could not live in their homes until extensive repairs were made.  Some families were/are living in a motel or they rented a place until the rebuilding can be completed.
