A free publication
is available that is helpful to seniors. It is Your
Senior Resource Guide. Separate editions of the
books are issued for each state. The Summer 2007 edition
has 120 pages and is the shape of a Readers Digest
magazine.
The material found
in the written booklet, along with additional
information, is available on line at
www.yoursrg.com. Web site viewers are able to locate
information from all states. The Web site states that
its purpose is to provide information on senior housing,
senior services, care giving, home health care, and
hospice.
In the Iowa Summer
2007 edition of the on-line booklet include sections on:
assisted living, hospice, long distance care giving,
independent living, skilled nursing, adult day services,
definitions of terms, agency telephone numbers, and an
alphabetical list by town name of Iowa “communities”
(nursing homes, independent living facilities etc.).
The material
provided helps readers understand their options so they
can make informed decisions. In this regard, the summer
edition has some check lists. For example, there is a
check list to help someone decide if they wish to enter
a retirement residence. The first of twelve questions on
the check list is, “I want to remain independent.” The
choices for each question are yes, no, or uncertain.
The publication is
produced by a private company. The first 20 pages of the
Summer 2007 edition are advertising. The publication is
sponsored by many and various senior care facilities.
The last 34 pages of the book contain a list of
sponsoring nursing homes, hospice institutions, etc.
Anyone may
subscribe. There is no cost. The toll free phone number
