The Iowa West District
LWML gathered at beautiful Mission Central on Saturday,
September 3, 2011 for the third annual fall retreat entitled
"Laboring for Christ". How appropriate the theme, as it was
over Labor Day weekend, however that did not dampen the
attendance. There were close to 140 in attendance, even
though it actually did pour rain. Speakers included Linda
Reiser of Grand Island, NE, former national LWML president
who shared our life is our song; David Reddel, attorney from
Omaha who shared his faith in the Band of Brothers, a group
of men that climb a mountain each year. This year they
climbed a 14,000 mountain carrying the paraplegic son of one
of their members and what JOY for them all to experience.;
Rev. Russell Senstad of Redeemer, Sioux City played his
guitar and sang to the barn full of guests who cheered him
on to sing more; the final speaker was Dennis Denow,
missionary to Asia. It was a day filled with many joyous
presentations with the power of the Holy Spirit so evident!
An Ingathering was collected for Mission Central and
clothing for Orphan Grain Train. Singing, skits, door
prizes, tour of the new chapel and a wonderful lunch filled
the day with many memories. |
