From the IDW Personal Missions
Committee
In March 2010, a study found that 78% of Americans
believe that Jesus Christ rose from the dead. Less than
three months remain until Resurrection Sunday. What will be
your focus when speaking with those outside the church in
the months leading up to Resurrection Sunday this year?
Chances are the person you are talking to believes in the
fact of Jesus’ resurrection even if they don’t trust Him to
forgive their sins or attend services at a Christian
congregation. How can you help your resurrection-believing
neighbor who remains outside the Church understand that the
gifts of forgiveness, eternal life, and salvation which the
Resurrection of Jesus assures us of are made available to
them personally in your congregation?
Attention Married Couples
Sioux City Date Night is a
marriage retreat for couples sponsored by Calvary Lutheran
Church; St. Paul's Lutheran Church; Lutheran Family Service;
Thrivent Financial for Lutherans & Siouxland Lutherans in
Minis-try and Mission; and an Iowa District West Mission
Grant. It will be held February 24-25 at Stoney Creek Inn,
Sioux City. The cost is $125 per couple and includes lodging
and a romantic evening meal. Dr. Thad Warren, professor of
education at Concordia University-Nebraska, will lead the
topic. You may register online at www.siouxcitydatenight.com
or by calling 712-239-1575 (Calvary Lutheran Church).
Iowa District West 2012 Convention
The 38 th Convention of IDW
will be held at Camp Okoboji, June 24-26. The theme is "Joy
in Modeling," and will focus our attention on faithfully
passing on our faith and God’s Love to future generations.
Each congregations or parish will be represented by two
delegates; a pastor and a lay person. Through elections and
resolutions the delegates will set the direction for the
District for the next triennium. Please keep the work of
Iowa District West in your prayers. |
