Joy in Sharing the Good News of Jesus
82% of people who do not attend church say that they would
be somewhat likely or very likely to attend a service or
other church event if they were personally invited. Perhaps
you hesitate to invite other people to your church because
you are afraid they will turn you down or will fail to
follow through, but the probability is very good that the
person you invited will actually come. Inviting people is a
great way to get started in personal witnessing because it
is so simple. No training or special knowledge is required,
but it is highly effective. Your church is the place where
Jesus comes to speak to sinners with His Word, and your
invitation could bring them to hear Him. Rev. Jason
Peterson, Personal Missions CommitteeMission
Experiences
Mission experiences are available through Iowa District West

The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod. Medical, dental, eye
glass, construction, VBS, and outreach teams travel
throughout the world. More information is available at the

Continuing Education Workshop
Shepherd of the Valley, West Des Moines, will host a
continuing education workshop from Concordia Seminary, St.
Louis. The workshop will be held July 27-29. Dr. Charles
Arand, professor of systematic theology, is the presenter.

the values necessary for a sustainable environmental ethic.
The workshop will explore the meaning of the Christian
narrative of creation for proclaiming the creedal Gospel as
well as for understanding our place and purpose on God’s
Blue Planet. The cost for the workshop is $125, and offers
1.5 CEUs. The workshop begins at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, July
27 and concludes at non on Wednesday, July 29. The
