Convention Applications: “What Does This Mean?”
Congregation leaders are encouraged to attend the convention application meetings scheduled around the District for late August and early September. What do the convention resolutions mean for mission partnership, church worker support, and stewardship of resources? The sessions will provide opportunity for immediate exploration for the congregation and immediate support from District staff. Attend at the time and place most convenient for you. The events are listed on the District Web site.

Chaplaincy and Special Assistance
Trinity Lutheran Church in Rochester, Minnesota has a ministry called TLCare that offers hospitalityto those receiving medical care at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester. TLCare now has lodging to offer to LCMS brothers and sisters at no cost. The small apartment is located on the edge of the Mayo campus and is available first come, first served. For more information, please contact Jennifer Jurgensen (tlcjennifer@charterinternet.com) or Trinity Lutheran Church (507-289-1531). Members (and friends) hospitalized in Des Moines and Sioux City are blessed with the spiritual care of Chaplains Rev. Jim Brammeier, Des Moines (jebrammeier@msn.com) and Rev. Steve Benson, Sioux City (steve.benson@idwlcms.org). Contact these special partners as special needs arise in these settings. St. Luke Regional Medical Center and Mercy Medical Center, Sioux City, are offering a special event on Thursday, October 29 as part of “Spiritual Care Week 2009.” The event will be held at Mercy Medical Center. Contact Chaplain Benson for more information (see email above).

Mission Invitations for Children and Youth
“Amigos en Cristo” (friends in Christ) is the focus of the Sunday school, Midweek, Lutheran School mission project. Children’s ministry groups are invited to be partners in this project during this school year. Invite the children to bring Jesus as the Friend of our Hispanic friends and neighbors. More information will be coming soon. Youth groups are encouraged to tithe their national gathering or District gathering fundraisers or in other ways support the work of Dr. Lo and family in Indonesia. The goal is $5,000 for this year. Checks can be sent to the District Office or to Mission Central.

Well done stewards!
As harvest time nears, we are reminded of the harvest of blessings. Fall is a great time for stewardship education. Consider “Consecrated Steward,” “Excel in the Grace of Giving,” “First Fruits Giving Week” or other resources that are recommended through the District Office.
