About Main Street Living

Main Street Living is a liturgical worship service, broadcast Sunday mornings on 10 television stations in 8 states. The program is broadcast Sunday mornings at 10:00 am on KCAU (ABC) stations, and financially supported by the viewers and congregations of the viewing area.

The first portion of the program is remastered episodes of Lutheran hour ministries, This is the Life, a retro TV series that aired from the 1950s to the 1980s.


The Mission of Main Street Living

  • Main Street Living is here to provide liturgical service to those who are unable to attend a local congregation. 
  • We strive to be a ministry that aids and complements the work of pastors and their congregations, and encourage those who are able, to attend a local worship service.
  • Six regional services are broadcast on local television stations and available online to those who are unable to attend in-person worship

September 27 airing

This is the Life – “The Cup” – The dilemma a trucker must face when a good friend dies trying to protect him.

Worship Service – Rev. Russell Senstad of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Sioux

This is the Life – “The Fathering Kind” – A single father who is down and out trying to raise a son on his own.

This is the Life – “Some People Need Help, Sergeant” – An amputee from a Veteran’s hospital must learn that hurting others will not help him.

Worship Service – Rev. Dennis Mercer of Divine Shepherd Lutheran Church in Black Hawk, SD, delivers the message “Render Unto God What Is God’s” based on Matthew 22:15-22. This is the Life – “The Sexton” – A pastor and a sexton (church caretaker) with magical powers fight an eerie duel in a church.

Worship Service – Reformation Sunday – Rev. Jordon Andreasen, LCMS missionary serving in Brasov, Romania, presents a message titled “The Good News:  An Offense”.
